Route 812

Route 812 is a service that runs between Bridport Place in Hoxton and Bath Street in Finsbury via Packington Street, the Sainsbury's supermarket in Islington, Percy Circus, Skinner Street (for Exmouth Market), Old Street (Golden Lane) and Dufferin Street.

The services run Monday to Friday (except public holidays), every 30 minutes from 9.30am. The last service leaves Bridport Place at 4.00pm.

The service costs £1 per trip. Freedom Pass holders and children under 16 travel free. Oyster Cards, Travelcards and Saver Tickets will not be accepted on these routes.

Route 812 is a hail and ride service. This means that as well as being able to board the buses at any of the bus stops situated along the route, passengers can hail the bus on roads where there are no bus stops. The driver will stop to pick passengers up providing it is safe to do so.

The Route 812 story

This ‘hail and ride’ bus route in the London Borough of Islington is, to our knowledge, unique in that it was designed by the people who use it - to help them get out and about. Focussing on the needs of older and disabled people – but open to all – Route 812 connects people with the key services, shops, doctors’ surgeries and day centres they identified as important to them.

The route, delivered in partnership with the London Borough of Islington, reaches areas that cannot be readily served by mainstream public transport. Surpluses from commercial contracts are used to ensure that this service really meets the needs of its users.
